5 Qualities of Media Messages:

1. Media messages are version of reality.

a. Media products may tell us that they are reality,but only represent reality.

b. Each medium has a limited way of presenting reality.


2. Each audience member decides his or her own meaning.


3. Media messages contain commercial meanings.

a. Messages are created to appeal to particular groups of people.

b. Messages influence the sales of products or ideas.


4. Media messages contain values and political meanings.

a. Because all media messages are made by people, they often contain the biases

of these people.


5. Understanding the art in Media messages increases enjoyment.
